SS Rajamouli‘s magnum opus RRR is undoubtedly one of the most awaited films across India. While the pan-India film is still 6 months away from its theatrical release, it has already started breaking records with a pre-release business of Rs 900 crore.
The worldwide theatrical rights of the film has been sold for Rs 570 Cr, while the digital and satellite rights closed at Rs 300 Cr and music rights sold for Rs 20 Cr.
Andhra and Nizam theatrical rights together have fetched Rs 240 Cr, while Hindi theatrical rights closed at Rs 140 crore. Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala have gone for Rs 48 Cr, 45 Cr and 15 Cr, respectively. The overseas rights of all languages have been traded for a total of Rs 70 crore.
Apparently, no film in India has done this kind of business before the release. Having made with a budget of nearly Rs 400 Cr, RRR has already pocketed double profits even before the release.
