Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to send 60 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine to the state in the wake of the rising number of coronavirus cases.
The letter said 6,28,961 doses were administered in a single day as part of the vaccination drive. The CM said that more doses were given in AP as compared to any other state in this regard. He said this was possible because of the system of village and ward volunteers.
The CM explained to the Prime Minister that one volunteer is meeting the needs of every 50 families. “The vaccine drive was effectively carried out by volunteers in the AP. We are looking to vaccinate every eligible person. In the next three weeks, the AP will provide the vaccine to everyone over the age of 45.” Jagan wrote.
He appealed to the Prime Minister to allocate 60 lakh doses to the AP to achieve that goal. Besides this, YS Jagan on Thursday directed officials to write to the Union government in case of any shortage of vaccines.
