In the View of Covid-19 second wave, UK PM cancels His India visit

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s visit to Delhi has been canceled yet again in the wake of prevailing Coronavirus situations. As per the schedule, he was supposed to visit India next week.

In a statement, the British Prime Minister’s office said, Boris Johnson, will not be able to travel to India next week, in the light of the current Coronavirus situation.

On the same development, the MEA has also issued a statement. In the statement, the Ministry called the decision a mutual agreement to call off the visit. For a transformed relationship between India and UK, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his UK counterpart will hold a virtual meeting.

“In view of the COVID-19 situation, it has been decided by mutual agreement that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom will not visit India next week. The two sides will be holding a virtual meeting in the coming days to launch plans for a transformed India-UK relationship, “MEA’s

“Instead, Prime Ministers Modi and Johnson will speak later this month to agree and launch their ambitious plans for the future partnership between the UK and India,” the statement added.

It has to be noted that, India and UK have been focusing on strengthening trade ties. UK PM was scheduled to tour India next week concerning the Trade Partnership between the two countries.
