In his speech, Modi compared the second wave of coronavirus to a storm. He said that the second wave hit us just when we were recovering from the impact of the first wave.

Modi said that a lockdown is off the table and that he has told all the state governments to use it as a last resort. The Prime Minister said that maintaining our economic livelihoods is as important as making sure that we stay safe and healthy. He said that it is our duty as responsible citizens to be safe and to go out as little as possible.

PM Modi stressed the role the youth have to play in keeping the spread of the virus in check. He said that micro-managing the spread of the virus with the use of containment zones should be opted for, and self-discipline should be observed by all, in order to keep the virus at bay.

He said that the government will spare no effort in fighting the virus, but said that the people of the nation also play an equally important role in making sure that the chain of spreading is broken.
