BJP’s Somu Veerraju is facing troubled times. The party is not showing any signs of revival in AP. What more? Even trusted BJP leaders and loyal workers are increasingly getting disenchanted. If sources are to be believed, they did not work during the recent civic and local body polls and were missing in action in Tirupati.
The reason? They are unhappy with the way Somu Veerraju was promoting newcomers and sidelining the seniors. Soon after becoming the president, he started luring leaders from other parties. Since then, he has been giving more importance to those who joined the party recently and has consistently ignored the time-tested seniors. Many are cut up with Somu as the new entrants were given plum posts and the oldtimers were sidelined. All these leaders have not cooperated with Somu Veerraju during the recent local body polls. Even in Tirupati bypoll, the same thing has happened. As a result of all these, groupism has grown in the party.
Meanwhile complaints are piling up against Somu Veerraju claiming that he was not appointing booth-level committees in the state. Though the Central leadership has asked him to appoint committees at the booth level, he has not done anything of that sort. Sources say that pressure on Veerraju would dramatically increase once the results of the Tirupati bypoll are known.
