The High Court on Wednesday directed the Telangana government to take a decision on weekend lockdown before May 8. The HC inquired about the Covid-19 situation in the state and questioned why the number of tests did not even cross one lakh.
DGP Mahender Reddy and Public Health Officer Srinivas Rao appeared in court for the hearing. The court also asked the government to increase the night curfew time on the occasion.
However, Mr Srinivas Rao told the court that the state is conducting the required tests in the state. The HC asked why the government was not taking action towards the lockdown. The bench asked to submit the data on beds and oxygen in the government hospitals.
The High Court questioned the demand for oxygen in the state of Telangana. Mr Srinivas Rao said there is a demand for 600 metric tonnes of oxygen. He told the bench that the central government had given 430 metric tonnes of oxygen and also the state brought oxygen from Karnataka and Orissa. Rao told the court that 55 metric tonnes of oxygen from Tamil Nadu had not arrived.
