India is going through hell with the Covid crisis. With things turning upside down, several States and Union Territories have opted for lockdown and local restrictions to tackle the virus spread.
Unlike other Chief Ministers, KCR is not in favor of going for another lockdown. Ruling out the possibility of another lockdown, Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao said, lockdown is not a solution for the crisis.
His announcement is not a surprise to many, as the other day, Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar said, there is no need of imposing another lockdown and the situation is under control.
A day after Somesh Kumar’s statements, the Chief Minister announced the same and said there is no need of going for the lockdown to curb the infections.
The Chief Minister gave reasons for his decision. He said, imposing lockdown might lead to a food crisis, as lakhs of people will be denied work and income with this. Industries and the workers working in the industries will be affected by this, the Chief Minister said.
The announcement came from the Chief Minister after chairing a key meeting at Pragathi Bhavan with the key officials of the Finance and Health Department over the Corona situations in the state.
‘The state has a yield of paddy in large amounts, which is produced at more than 6,000 centres in the state. Hundreds and thousands of people are involved in the process. What will the situation of the workers who came from other states if lockdown came into place? The Paddy purchase process will be halted, the Chief Minister said.
‘Hence, we are not ready for the lockdown. But, we will identify the areas with a greater number of cases and declare them as micro-level containment zones,’ KCR added.
