Legendary Malayalam scriptwriter and National Award-winning director Dennis Joseph passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday night (May 10). He was 63.
As per reports, the ace director was rushed to a hospital in his native Ettumanoor after suffered a heart attack, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Dennis Joseph began his career as a journalist in the early eighties with a film magazine. He later started writing scripts and penned 45 films. He also directed five movies, of which ‘Manu Uncle’ brought him the national award for best children’s film in 1988.
Joseph also worked with star directors such as Bharathan, KG George and TS Suresh Babu. He is also the writer behind commercially successful films in Mammootty’s career.
Reacting to the demise of Joseph, Mohanlal said, “Take any character that I played, I owe it to him. And the big films of yesteryears were also made in other languages just because of the power of his script. The dialogues of ‘Rajavinte Makhan’ continue to reverberate even now and that says everything. Never felt he would go this fast.”
