In a bid to treat severe critically ill COVID-19 patients, a Covid Care Centre named ‘Project Ashray’ in Hyderabad renovated its infrastructure to a 100 bed capacity with 6 bedded bridge ICU facility to meet the rising demand.
Telangana’s Information Technology and Urban Development Minister KT Ramarao (KTR) on Wednesday launched this full-fledged 100-bed COVID-19 Care Centre that is dedicated primarily for treating mild to moderate cases at Madhapur in Hyderabad.
The centre, called Project Ashray, has facilitated a high hand infrastructure with a six-bedded bridge ICU facility. It was inaugurated on May 3 by commissioner of police of Hyderabad, VC Sajjanar as a 50-bed facility and later scaled up to 100 beds as aspired by the management team and volunteers.
The facility is built by Society for Cyberabad Security Council with aid coming from United Way Hyderabad an, an international network of local non-profit fundraising affiliates, HYSEA, TSIC, TIE Hyderabad and Grace cancer foundation. Ramarao praised the timely initiative by all the organisations and non profit foundations involved in setting it. Interestingly, the service will be free of cost. It is learnt that for non-Aarogya Sri and Aarogya Bhandu card holders, a nominal cost will be charged for blood tests and medicines.
He addressed the Nobel deed by United Way of Hyderabad, that it deployed medical supplies worth Rs 80 crore, via the IT industry during the first wave last year, and in the second wave, it is supporting by facilitating funds for 100-bed Project Ashray.
