Young and beautiful actress Sayyesha Saigal made her debut as a heroine with ‘Akhil’ and quickly moved to Kollywood where she became very busy. Apart from finding success in her career, she found her life partner in Chennai. She got married to Tamil hero Arya after they acted together in ‘Ghajinikath’ which is a remake of our ‘Bhale Bhale Mogadivoy’.
Though many people might not know, Sayyesha is the grandniece of Saira Bano who is legendary actor Dilip Kumar’s wife. She shares a good relationship with the iconic actor who recently passed away at the age of 98 on Wednesday. He was put to rest on Friday in Mumbai and many people from the film fraternity attended his funeral at Juhu to pay their final repsects.
Sayyesha took to social media and posted a black and white photo where she is seen having a formal dance with Dilip Kumar during her childhood. She stated that she is blessed to have spent so much of her childhood with the legend who the world knows as #DilipKumar. She added, “For me, he will always remain my warm-hearted Phuponana, with whom I sang and danced, learned so much from and loved to bits! It’s an end of an era! RIP.
As we know, Dilip Kumar is one of the iconic heroes of Bollywood who won the Filmfare award 8 times which is the highest for any Hindi actor till date. He was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994. The government recognised his wonderful work in the field of entertainment and felicitated Dilip Kumar with Padma Bhushan in 1991 and later with Padma Vibhushan in 2015. In a phenomenal career spanning over five decades, he did 65 films but many of them were classics. He acted in films like ‘Anokha Pyar’, ‘Andaz’, ‘Daag’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Azaad’, ‘Naya Daur’, ‘Kohinoor’, ‘Leader’, ‘Mughal-E-Azam’ and many others. His last film was ‘Qila’ which came out in 1998.
His real name was Mohammed Yusuf Khan but was named Dilip Kumar during the time of his film debut. Apart from acting, he was a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha. He spent in the office from 2000 to 2006. The entire Bollywood is sad for losing such a legend.
