September 17 was the day when Telangana was freed from the Nizam ruling and was made a part of India. We have to thank the Former Deputy Prime Minister of India Vallabhbhai Patel. He was instrumental in liberating Hyderabad under Mission Polo.
Marking the occasion of Liberation Day, the political parties in the state have celebrated the special day. Besides remembering the freedom fighters, the political parties have remembered the sacrifices they made.
TRS senior leader and MP K. Keshava Rao took part in the celebrations and hoisted the flag. After the celebrations, the MP who is holding the post of the General Secretary of TRS had urged everyone to not create any controversy on the date. Saying that a few people call the day liberation day and a few others call it merger day, the MP said the day had brought happiness for everyone.
The saffron party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which has been battling for the demand to celebrate the day in a big way in the state had made elaborate arrangements for a public meeting. To make the meeting successful, Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended the meeting that was held in Nirmal.
Before the meeting, the senior leader from the Telangana BJP, who recently got a promotion as a Union minister for culture and tourism G. Kishan Reddy reached the Hyderabad BJP party office and hoisted the flag as part of the celebrations. He too raised the same demand of holding the celebrations officially on the occasion of Liberation Day.
Remembering the great work done by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in liberating Telangana, Telangana chief of BJP Bandi Sanjay Kumar visited the Patel statue in Kamareddy and paid floral tributes to the ‘Iron Man of India’
The Telangana wing of Congress also took part in the celebrations. Led by TPCC Chief Revanth Reddy, the leaders celebrated Liberation Day by paying floral tributes to veteran Congressmen like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel.
Addressing the media, Telangana Congress Chief Revanth Reddy had credited Former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru for his efforts in bringing Telangana into the Indian territory.
