CBI books Adimulapu Suresh couple again!

The Supreme Court has clarified that the CBI should continue its probe into the disproportionate assets case of AP Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh and his wife Vijaya Lakshmi.

The CBI had registered a case in 2016 against Suresh and his wife, Vijaya Lakshmi, an IRS officer, for allegedly possessing assets over their income. An FIR was also registered in 2017. However, the Suresh couple challenged this and approached the Telangana High Court. The High Court quashed the CBI order. With this, the CBI has approached the Supreme Court.

Adimulapu Suresh is a former IRS officer. His wife is currently working as an IRS officer. Vijaya Lakshmi registered as A-1 and Suresh as A-2 in this case. The charge sheet stated that the couple had assets of at least twenty to thirty crores as per the open market value in excess of the income.

According to the CBI, the two had bought illegal assets between April 1, 2010, and February 29, 2016. The CBI said in an affidavit to the Supreme Court that it had questioned over 120 witnesses in the disproportionate assets case against the minister. The CBI counsel told the apex court that the probe was in its final stages and would be completed in three months.
