Even though YSRCP rebel MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju isn’t making any public statements against the ruling YSRCP and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, due to the Supreme Court’s orders, he is doing everything he can, legally. The major one being RRR’s case against Jagan, in the CBI court, requesting the cancellation of Jagan’s bail in the illegal assets case.
RRR is now planning to put Jagan in a fix, with regards to the abolition of the Legislative Council in the state. RRR is said to have decided to meet with Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, seeking the abolition of the Council. Jagan decided to abolish the Council in January 2020, and the Legislative Assembly even passed a motion in this regard. This was when the TDP dominated the Council. Since then, the TDP’s majority fell to 15, while the YSRCP’s majority increased to 31 in the Council, making things entirely different.
Neither Jagan nor the members of the YSRCP have spoken about the abolition of the Legislative Council for a long time now. The decision on the same is also currently pending in the Lok Sabha, and the AP government is reportedly in no intention to move the Lok Sabha on the same, as the Council is currently very important to Jagan, given that he’s making everyone who can’t be accommodated as Ministers, the posts of MLCs. It is now to be seen how successful RRR will be.
