Online abuse: Rahul Gandhi backs Virat Kohli

Team India skipper Virat Kohli has been receiving fierce online criticism in the wake of India’s performance at the ongoing T20 World Cup. He has also come under the radar of some section of people for his strong comments on targeting teammate Mohammed Shami.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday extended support to Virat Kohli. He tweeted a message of support of India skipper after there were online threats of rape to the nine-month-old daughter of the cricketer.

“Dear Virat, These people are filled with hate because nobody gives them any love. Forgive them. Protect the team,” Gandhi said in a tweet.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chairperson Swati Maliwal also issued a notice to Delhi Police over the rape threats to Kohli’s daughter Vamika. In the notice, she said that it is a very serious matter and attracts immediate action.
