Bipin Rawat Chopper Crash: Survivor Captain Varun Singh Dies

A week after IAF chopper crash that killed India’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others, the lone survivor of the tragic accident Group Captain Varun Singh has passed away today. He battled with injuries for a week and finally succumbed to them. Before the crash, Captain was recently conferred with the Shaurya Chakra by President Ram Nath Kovind for his act of exceptional gallantry.

The Mi-17V5 helicopter carrying 14 on board crashed on 8th December near Tamil Nadu reportedly due to bad weather. CDS General Bipin Rawat, wife Madhulika Rawat, Defence Adviser Brigadier Lakhbinder Singh Lidder, Staff Officer Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh and nine other Armed Forces personnel including the Air Force helicopter crew had died in the crash.
