For many months, one constant speculation and rumor on social media is about the OTT release of Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer “Radhe Shyam”.
The makers have denied earlier. Now, fresh speculations have begun.
Here’s the truth. The makers have approached streaming platforms during the second wave of the pandemic with plans to release directly on OTT.
During the discussions, the makers have realized that movies like “Radhe Shyam” have no benefits from direct-OTT release.
So, they dropped the plans long back and have announced the theatrical release date as Jan 14, 2022. However, they had to postpone it again due to the third wave of the coronavirus.
The prices the streaming companies give will work out to the productions that are made under Rs 120 crore budgets.
The maximum an OTT company can offer is in the range of Rs 150 crore. Such an amount would not recover the investment made by producers for movies like “Radhe Shyam”, “RRR” and other big-ticket productions. These biggies were made with more than Rs 300 crore.
In a nutshell, “Radhe Shyam” will only be released in theaters first.
