The 29th state of India, Telangana is all set to add one more feature in its cap with a massive statue made up of five metals. Spread across a vast area, the yet-to-be-unveiled statue also has other facilities like a big library, theatre, and educational gallery.
The 216-feet statue named the Statue of Equality was built in Telangana, which will be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. To inaugurate the statue, Modi is landing in Hyderabad. The statue was built to remember Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya.
As the Statue of Equality is dubbed as one of the biggest statues in the world, let us dive into the details of the statue that makes it special.
The statue was set up in a vast area spread across 45 acres. The humongous statue was placed on top of a 54-feet long building. The statue of equality is surrounded by as many as 108 small temples that were built on the lines of the famous temples.
It took around seven long years to finish the statue. The foundation stone was laid back in 2014. The statue was made of five metals, gold, silver, copper, brass, and zync, that are considered sacred as far as the temples are concerned.
After the statue will be unveiled, a massive Yagam will be performed and around 5,000 priests across the nation will take part in the Yagam and for the same 120 Jayashalas were set up.
The statue will be unveiled on the eve of the 1000th birth anniversary of the Hindu saint. Marking the special occasion, Sahasrabdi Samaroham celebrations will be held which will last for 12 long days.
Tamil Philosopher Ramanujacharya is a celebrated theologist who played a big role in famous people taking forward the Hindu Bhakti movement. He had fought against the discrimination and made temple entry available for all the castes.
Ramanujacharya took his philosophy of equality to one and all by touring various parts of the country. During his stint in Srirangam, he had reformed the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple complex. The traditions he carried out were still followed in various famous Hindu temples even now.
