UP Polls: EC slaps TS MLA with summons seeking response!

The largest state in India in terms of population Uttar Pradesh is experiencing a high-intense ballot box battle. The ongoing elections will be held in a phased manner. While the political experts predict that BJP might have to face a tough battle, the saffron party is confident of winning the polls.

As the elections are underway, a controversial MLA from the Telangana wing of Bharatiya Janata Party, T. Raja Singh had reportedly threatened the voters in Uttar Pradesh to cast his vote for the BJP. He reportedly said that bulldozers and JCBs will be used against those who don’t vote for Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The alleged comments made by Raja Singh came to the notice of the top election body, the Election Commission of India. Not happy with the behavior of the MLA, the body is said to have slapped the MLA with a notice seeking a response on making the comments.

As per the information, the Election Commission of India had reportedly issued notices to Raja Singh to give a reason why action should not be instigated against him as he had violated the Election Code of Conduct, IPC, and RP Act.

The Legislator was reportedly given a deadline of 24 hours. If the MLA fails to give an appropriate reason, then the body will go ahead as per the guidelines and start an action against him, media reports said.
