One interesting indicator from Sunday’s eight-hour-long meeting between poll wizard Prashant Kishore and Telangana CM KCR at their farmhouse is that Prakash Raj would accompany PK during his visit to Mallanna Sagar project.
Why has KCR brought in Prakash Rao instead of his English-savvy son and party working president KTR, who loves to wax eloquent in English? Why were leaders like either Harish or MP Santosh Kumar or even industrialist Nama Nageswara Rao not involved. Why is Prakash Raj being given such great importance? Is it because KCR wants to keep his strategy such a secret that even KTR shouldn’t know?
Is Prakash Raj only brought to grab media eyeballs? Is it aimed at keeping the Opposition BJP and the Congress confused? Or does he have a specific role at the national level for Prakash Raj in his scheme of things? The media is splitting its hair over PR and his possible role in KCR’s national level plans.
Quite interestingly, Prakash Raj’s political appeal may not extend beyond Karnataka. Even in Karnataka, where PR contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, PR fared very poorly. He lost his security deposit to BJP candidate Tejaswi Surya. Can PR tackle political titans like Mamta Banerjee and Sharad Pawar? Highly unlikely. Yet, why is KCR pushing PR into national politicis?
