A few women were shocked to know that their nude and semi-nude pictures have been posted on Instagram and other social media platforms. The victims had approached the Special Cell Police officials and complained about what had happened to them. Upon receiving the complaint, the officials had swung into action and investigated the matter from various corners.
As the photos were posted from the Instagram handle, the officials had started their investigation with the handle, and based on the IT address and other information, they gathered information about the culprit. Their investigation had pointed fingers at one person.
With the investigation guiding them, the investigation officers had shown up at an address and they could not believe what they were seeing. The reason behind this is that a culprit is a well-read person and currency working as a software engineer.
After reaching the house of the accused, the cops had searched his house to see if they could get any information. They were shocked to see that his laptop has thousands of nudes pictures and videos of women.
The videos and pictures of women are close to 4,000 and based on the same evidence, the special cell officers had arrested him. A case has been booked against him under various sections. As the victims happen to be minor girls too, sections that deal with the crimes against girls under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were also included.
The accused is based out of Uttar Pradesh city Noida and he has been identified as Mohit Sharma. The 33-year-old accused had managed to get the objectionable pictures of women as he had approached them by posing himself as a fashion magazine editor.
The software engineer also made friends with many of the victims by posing himself as a woman. After gaining their trust, he would get their pictures by blackmailing them reportedly. Later, he used to post them online.
The Special Cell’s Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Ops had investigated the matter and made a breakthrough. The accused has been arrested and is expected to be produced before the Court soon. It is said that he was involved in a similar offense in the past.
