An open letter purportedly written by Y S Bharati, chairperson of Sakshi media group and wife of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has been doing rounds in the social media for the last few hours, generating a heated discussion in the media circles.
However, enquiries revealed that it was a fake letter, generated from an unknown source.
And in these days of degenerating politics and irresponsible journalism, anybody could have written this letter – it might be fans of Jagan or his foes to malign him and his family.
The content of the letter was obviously aimed at attacking Jagan’s political rivals, including TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, the language, tone and tenor of the letter indicates that it was definitely not written by Bharati.
First of all, Bharati doesn’t interfere in the political activities of her husband. There was no instance of her appearing in any of the meetings of Jagan – official or political. She is confined herself to the business empire, including Sakshi media house.
Secondly, if at all Bharati has to say something about Jagan’s political activity or the opposition onslaught against him, she would write a piece in Sakshi newspaper or appear in the television channel. But she would definitely not release an open letter in the social media, which has no credibility.
Thirdly, Bharati would never use such an offensive language, seen in that open letter, even against Jagan’s political rivals. The words like “Sikhandi” or “emi peekuthadu (what would he pluck),” “Penta rajakeeyalu” (garbage politics), “vedhava alochanalu” (stupid thoughts) etc, would never be used by Bharati, who is always dignified in her talk and writing.
Fourthly, the timing of the letter. There are no elections right now and there is absolutely no threat to Jagan politically for now. The allegations and counter allegations are common in politics and even Jagan knows how to counter them effectively.
So, where is the need for Bharati to write an open letter, that, too, telling the people that the future of Andhra Pradesh and her family was in their hands?
