It is a powerful political family that dominated North Warangal politics for decades, But today, the very same family is finding itself in the crossroads and the rumours galore surrounding them are doing great damage to their overall image. The Konda couple – Konda Murali and Konda Surekha – are now facing trouble from the stories that they are all set to join the BJP.
The Konda family had to convene a press meet and categorically say that they were not leaving the Congress and that there was no possibility of joining the BJP.
But, the buzz in the district is that both Murali and Surekha are joining the BJP. They also clarified that Konda Surekha will contest from Warangal East come what may. The family has also clearly indicated that they are ready to field another family member from any other constituency.
Konda Surekha has appealed to the people not to believe in the rumours that they were joining the BJP. They requested the media not to confuse the people. They said this was a conspiracy hatched by the ruling TRS to keep the people in confusion and clarified that they would not leave the Congress Party.
Konda family began with Left politics as students and later joined the Congress Party. Known to be diehard loyalists of YSR, they joined the TRS in 2014.
Later, they left the TRS as they were unhappy at the treatment meted out to them. In the 2018 elections, they fought as Congress candidates and lost the elections. Now, there are rumours that they would be joining the BJP.
