Chandrababu Naidu is trying every trick in the trade to breathe new life into the TDP, which has just completed 40 years of its founding. The party as of now is a party with a great past but uncertain future. It is facing several serious challenges such as ageing leadership, lack of second rung leadership and growth of caste-based awareness among the voters.
On the foundation day, Chandrababu spoke of 40- 40 – 40. This has now become buzzword in the TDP circles. He said that the party would forge ahead with 40 – 40- 40. Now, what is 40 – 40- 40? According to Chandrababu, the first 40 marks the 40th foundation day of the party. The party has grown for the last 40 years and has played a key role in both Telugu states as well as at the national level.
The second 40, according to Chandrababu Naidu is the fact that the TDP foundation day was celebrated in over 400 locations across 40 countries. The NRIs, the supporters and sympathisers of the party spread across the globe have celebrated the event. They have also pledged to work for the rejuvenation of the party.
The third 40 represents Chandrababu Naidu’s decision to give 40 per cent of the tickets to the youth. This is being seen as an important announcement as several seniors such as Ashok Gajapathi Raju may not contest in the 2024 elections. Hence, young faces are the need of the hour. This decision would energise the young leaders, feel the party sympathisers.
