How Brothers NTR and ANR Turned Rivals With a Rift!

Tollywood is one of the biggest film industries in India right now. After the Pan-India trend started the industry started spreading its wings largely. We cannot talk about the industry without taking the names of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The two legendary actors created a big impact that without taking their references, we cannot talk about the industry.

Though they are legendary actors and ruled the industry for a few decades, they both had different images. While NTR shot to super fame by portraying Mythological characters and mass entertainers, ANR is known for playing devotees characters on screen.

NTR has a terrific screen presence while playing Hindu gods to a point that a great actor like ANR decided to not act along with NTR in mythology films as NTR gets the focus. After his wife advised him, ANR stopped doing such films with NTR.

But many don’t know that NTR and ANR had issues and the issues reached a point where they had reportedly decided to not act together. This happened despite the legendary actors acting together in as many as fifteen films including classic films like Gundamma Katha, and Missamma.

It is a big wonder that despite sharing good bonding, the two legendary heroes had issues and with that, the duo reportedly developed issues. In an old interview, legendary lyric writer C. Narayana Reddy spoke about the issues. Acknowledging that NTR and ANR had issues, he said that he got an opportunity to work with them.

NTR and Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) had a professional rivalry during the peaks of their career. However, the professional rivalry turned intense and they decided to not work with each other. No one knows what made the legendary actors spoil their relationship.

When NTR floated his TDP, many personalities from the industry supported him and even joined the party. However, ANR maintained his distance from politics and the party. Once NTR is believed to have ordered authorities to seize Annapurna Studios owned by ANR citing various violations. He was the Chief Minister at that time. This added fuel to the rivalry.
