The recently concluded Munugode bypoll in Telangana led to floundering in the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. TRS is implementing various welfare schemes. The party brought a bunch of schemes. Dalit Bandhu, Raithu Bandhu, and Kalyana Lakshmi are examples of such schemes. The party also gave its best in developing the state. TRS brought Mission Bhagiratha-like schemes in fluorosis hit Nalgonda.
Besides this, the party has been spending crores of rupees on various schemes to benefit the beneficiaries. Surprisingly all of these did not work. Despite highlighting all the welfare schemes the outcome was not that encouraging. Reports say that the ruling party reportedly spent big money to woo the voters seeing that the welfare schemes are not working.
The situation reportedly forced the ruling party to distribute money to the voters to win the by-election in Munugode. TRS doing despite a lot of development and bringing a few welfare schemes gave birth to a discussion that the welfare did not work well for the TRS.
All though a big amount of money was reportedly spent, the ruling party sent MLAs and Ministers to the poll-bound region to campaign for the candidate. TRS is spending big money on development and it is said that the state government is borrowing huge money to take money for the same. Surprisingly this also could not save the party.
All this made the party win the election with a mere majority of 10,000 votes. This is very less given the money spent.
The leaders of the ruling YCP in fellow Telugu state Andhra Pradesh are now said to be worried looking at the outcome of the Munugode by-election. There is a theory that is doing rounds to back the reports.
The same situation is happening in fellow Telugu state Andhra Pradesh. The government is banking heavily on welfare schemes and freebies and the majority of the money is being spent on these. The welfare schemes are covering almost all sections of society. YCP brought flagship schemes like Jagananna Ammavodi. YCP leaders are said to be worried that the welfare schemes might not work and the Munugode by-election result might take place there too? There is an opinion that YCP should look into this.
