YS Sharmila, daughter of former Chief Minister YSR floated her political party in Telangana long back. However, she is yet to get the required momentum for the party. We have been hearing a lot about Sharmila merging her party into the grand old Congress party for some time. Debates and discussions are going on about this.
Now the political circles say that everything is fixed almost for the merger and we might hear the news anytime soon. It is said that Sharmila took the help of a few senior leaders in Congress to speed up things. Her father is an Ex-Chief Minister and a known face in many states. This might have helped her in this.
Now what we hear from the media reports is that Sharmila might get a plum post in the Congress party and she might get a spot in the AICC directly. It is known that the Telangana Congress leaders raised severe objections when asked about Sharmila taking the Congress route.
To see that no issues arise, the Congress leadership is said to have pacified the leaders and there would be no issues from their side reportedly. On the other hand, it is also said that there might be a change in the Constituency Sharmila will run the elections in the state.
YS Sharmila wants to run the elections from the Paleru constituency and she said this many times. However, it is now said that the Congress leadership asked her to run from the Secunderabad constituency and Sharmila is said to have given her nod for this.
Once any leader joins any party then he or she should listen to what the leadership tells and the same might have happened with Sharmila. On the other hand, the Secunderabad seat has a significant Christian population and they can be a deciding factor in the polls. This aspect might be one of the reasons.
Though Sharmila wants to try her luck in Telangana, her base is in Andhra Pradesh as she was born and brought up there. Keeping this in mind, the Congress leadership is said to be in plans to utilize her service in both states, first Telangana and then Andhra Pradesh.
The elections will be held in Telangana first. So Sharmila is expected to work for the party here and she might give all everything she has got. Coming to AP, she needs no introduction there and her image might work for the party to bounce back. It appears that Sharmila can be the X-factor for the party in Andhra Pradesh.
