Prabhas scored a massive hit after five years with ‘Salaar Part 1’. Directed by Prasanth Neel, this action saga made the fans super happy. But the lack of huge promotions and competition with ‘Dunki’ stopped the movie from getting over the 1000 crore mark. Nonetheless, it amassed over 725 crores at the box office. Hombale Films produced this film and it arrived amidst massive expectations. Fans said that ‘Salaar’ is the best film from Prabhas after ‘Baahubali’.
While it is a fact that the competition with ‘Dunki’ affected its collections heavily in the North and overseas, there is complaint that Prasanth Neel did not deliver his best for this film. He created a huge impact with ‘KGF’ which is why people expected ‘Salaar’ to be on another level. But many claim that Neel took his own movie ‘Ugram’ and remade it as ‘Salaar’ on a bigger scale. He developed a fictional world called Khansaar and narrated the same story of ‘Ugram’ according to them.
This is a reason for negativity over the film and the movie was declared a disaster in Kannada. They confirmed that it is a remake of ‘Ugram’. ‘Salaar’ got breakeven collections in Nizam and overseas markets. It had minor losses in other areas according to trade pundits. Now, Prasanth Neel is focused on ‘Shouryanga Parvam’ which is the continuation for the story which he left midway at the end of the first part.
With ‘Salaar’ getting an average response in most areas, many claim that it is a risk to spend more on the second part. But Prasanth Neel left a lot of questions unanswered in the first part and he needs the second part to be on the same level if not higher to narrate the rest of the story. We need to wait and see if the director and producer decide to risk further on ‘Salaar’ or take a controlled approach in terms of spending.
