Janhvi Kapoor Prioritizes Artistic Growth Over Guaranteed Success

Janhvi Kapoor, a rising star in Indian cinema, is actively promoting her upcoming film “Uljah.” Building upon the modest success of her recent project “Mr. & Mrs. Mahi,” where her acting alongside Rajkumar Rao garnered praise, Kapoor finds herself engaged in a string of high-profile ventures, including “Devara” and “RC16.”

In a recent interview, Kapoor shed light on her approach to selecting film projects. She revealed a preference for roles that challenge and stimulate her artistic growth, even if they carry a higher risk factor, over opting for formulaic commercial films that might guarantee box-office success.

“I could have chosen a very easy journey,” Kapoor acknowledged. “Instead of the projects I’ve done, I could’ve done a big commercial film with a glamorous role, easy reach, guaranteed popularity and box office numbers. That’s a very easy journey. The success rate is almost guaranteed.”

However, Kapoor embraces the inherent challenges associated with her chosen path. “So I know it’s a longer game, it’s a tougher game,” she conceded. “I know that realistically if we’re looking at the box office, there have been more misses than hits because of the nature of the high-risk films I’ve chosen.” Despite this, Kapoor finds the artistic fulfillment derived from these roles far outweighs the potential for immediate commercial success.

The actress also addressed the issue of online trolls, advocating for a detached approach. “Don’t take yourself seriously,” she advised. “Social media trolling and comments keep going. Do not give importance to yourself in this social media culture.”

Kapoor’s current project, “Devara,” slated for release on September 27th, is a pan-Indian film directed and written by Koratala Siva. Presented by Kalyan Ram under the banner of “NTR Arts,” the production is helmed by Sudhakar Mikkilineni and Kosaraju Harikrishna. With her dedication to artistic exploration and a promising line-up of upcoming films, Janhvi Kapoor is poised to make a significant mark on the Indian film industry.
