The much-anticipated action-comedy film, “Double Ismart,” directed by Puri Jagannadh and starring Ram Pothineni, had a robust opening on its release day, August 15th.
Despite facing criticism for a lack of substantial content, the film capitalized on the director-actor duo’s strong brand image and garnered significant opening day collections.
The film amassed a total gross of ₹12.45 crores worldwide, including a share of ₹7.30 crores. Notably, the film secured an impressive ₹55 lakhs from the overseas market without any premiere shows. Domestically, the film performed well, with Karnataka and the Rest of India contributing ₹65 lakhs to the total.
In the Telugu states, “Double Ismart” raked in a share of ₹6.10 crores. The Nizam region emerged as the top contributor with ₹2.49 crores, followed by the Ceded region at ₹90 lakhs. Uttarandhra and the combined East and West Godavari districts contributed ₹76 lakhs and ₹69 lakhs respectively. Guntur and Krishna districts generated ₹70 lakhs and ₹38 lakhs, while Nellore contributed ₹20 lakhs to the overall collection.
Ram Pothineni’s energetic portrayal, the mass appeal of the film, and Sanjay Dutt’s presence were key factors driving the initial box office success. However, the film’s reliance on outdated storytelling and excessive glamour has drawn mixed reviews. The film’s performance over the weekend will be crucial in determining its overall box office trajectory.
