N-Convention Centre Controversy: A Legal Battle Over Environmental Concerns

Hyderabad, India – A significant legal dispute has erupted in Hyderabad, involving actor Akkineni Nagarjuna and President Kasireddy Bhaskara Reddy over the construction of the N-Convention Centre. Reddy has filed a complaint with the Madapur police, alleging that the convention center was built by encroaching upon the Tummidikunta pond.

The complaint, which seeks to register a criminal case against Nagarjuna, claims that the encroachment has caused significant environmental harm and violated legal regulations. The police have accepted the complaint and are currently seeking legal advice on how to proceed.

The N-Convention Centre has been a source of controversy since its construction. Reports indicate that it occupies 1.12 acres of the Tummidikunta lake’s Full Tank Level (FTL) area, as well as an additional two acres in the buffer zone. Environmentalists and local residents have long raised concerns about the impact of such constructions on vital water bodies in Hyderabad. The recent complaint has reignited these discussions, highlighting the ongoing tension between development and environmental preservation.

In response to the allegations, Nagarjuna has expressed his distress over the situation. He asserts that the land is legally owned and not encroaching on any protected areas. Nagarjuna claims that he has always acted within the law and is prepared to defend his position in court. He further contends that the demolition of his property was carried out unlawfully and without proper notice, which he intends to challenge legally.

The legal battle between Nagarjuna and Reddy has significant implications for the future of environmental protection in Hyderabad. The outcome of this case could set a precedent for how development projects are regulated and whether environmental concerns will be given adequate consideration in the face of economic growth.
