The political climate in Telangana has intensified following the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)’s filing of a case against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) in connection with the alleged Formula E scandal. Hours after the case was registered, KTR held a press conference to refute the allegations and address the media.
During the press conference, KTR launched a pointed attack against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of engaging in a politically motivated campaign to tarnish his reputation. “Revanth Reddy is desperate to arrest me,” KTR said. “But he must note that I am a man of integrity and determination. I am the son of a revolutionary and am not scared of these cheap tactics.”
KTR’s remarks took a sharp turn as he responded in Telugu, stating, “Nuvvu maa ventruka kuda peekalev Revanth Reddy” (“You cannot even pluck a hair of mine, Revanth Reddy”). This statement underscored his confidence and readiness to confront the allegations head-on.
Amid reports that KTR might face arrest over the weekend, the BRS leader sought to preemptively counter the claims by presenting his version of events. Highlighting the government’s rationale behind hosting the Formula E event, KTR emphasized that it was a groundbreaking initiative aimed at elevating Hyderabad’s global stature. He categorically denied any wrongdoing, stating, “Not even a single rupee was misspent.”
The Formula E event, which garnered international attention, was lauded for putting Hyderabad on the global map of motorsport and sustainability. However, opposition parties have alleged financial irregularities in its organization. KTR’s defense comes as an attempt to clear the air amid these accusations and to reinforce his party’s commitment to development and transparency.
The unfolding developments have added a new dimension to the political discourse in Telangana, with the opposition intensifying its scrutiny of the ruling BRS government. The coming days are likely to witness heightened political activity as the case progresses and both sides continue their war of words.
