Sandhya Theatre Incident Sparks Debate: Telangana Government Demands Larger Compensation from Actor Allu Arjun

The tragic events surrounding the Sandhya Theatre incident in Hyderabad continue to dominate headlines, with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his cabinet actively discussing the matter. The controversy has escalated to the point where Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has criticized actor Allu Arjun’s involvement and called for significant reparations.

The incident occurred when a massive crowd gathered to witness Allu Arjun’s open-top car arrival for the screening of his film, leading to chaos that tragically resulted in the death of a woman named Revathi. Her son remains hospitalized in critical condition. Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy claimed that despite police warnings against attending the screening, the actor insisted on being present, which he described as an act of “ignorance and negligence.”

“Allu Arjun was asked not to come to the theatre, but he did anyway. His open-top car show drew huge crowds, causing a tragic loss of life. Despite being informed of the situation, he prioritized watching the film over public safety,” Komatireddy alleged in his statement.

In a strong demand, the minister has urged Allu Arjun and the makers of the film to compensate the victim’s family with ₹20 crore. “They are proudly announcing box office collections of ₹2000 crore and ₹3000 crore. If that’s the case, why can’t they contribute ₹20 crore to the grieving family?” the minister stated.

It must be noted that Allu Arjun has pledged ₹25 lakh as financial aid to the family and has committed to covering the child’s medical expenses. The Telangana government has also stepped in to provide medical compensation, with Minister Komatireddy contributing ₹25 lakh personally. However, Komatireddy has argued that the magnitude of the incident warrants more substantial compensation from the actor, given the film’s reported commercial success.

The debate highlights broader concerns about public safety, celebrity responsibility, and the repercussions of large gatherings. The Telangana government’s stance and Komatireddy’s demand for ₹20 crore from Allu Arjun have ignited a contentious discussion, with public opinion divided on the issue.

As investigations and discussions continue, the Sandhya Theatre episode underscores the need for stricter crowd management measures and accountability to prevent such tragedies in the future.
