Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to marry Priya Saroj, a Lok Sabha MP from the Samajwadi Party. Priya’s father, Kerakat Tufani Saroj, who is a three-time MP, confirmed that both families have had meaningful discussions and given their approval for the wedding, although no formal engagement or pre-wedding ceremony has been held yet.
Rinku and Priya have known each other for over a year, having met through a mutual friend whose father is also a cricketer. They developed a fondness for each other but decided to wait for family approval before moving forward. Now, with both families agreeing to the union, they are planning the engagement and wedding ceremonies. The dates for these events will be finalized after the conclusion of the Parliament session, with the engagement ceremony scheduled to take place in Lucknow.
Rinku Singh, currently a member of the Indian T20I squad for the upcoming series with England starting January 22, 2025, in Kolkata, will also represent Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025, which begins in March. Priya’s father mentioned that the wedding will be arranged so as not to conflict with Rinku’s cricket commitments. The families recently met at Rinku’s residence in Aligarh, where they exchanged gifts and formalized the marriage agreement.
Priya Saroj, a prominent member of the Samajwadi Party, hails from Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi. She was elected as an MP from the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district at the young age of 25. Priya, who holds a law degree from Amity University, Noida, and an arts degree from Delhi University, has been actively involved with the Samajwadi Party, gaining recognition during her father’s 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly campaign.
