This is exactly what veteran actor Devan Srinivasan recently shared, opening up about the heartbreaking loss of his wife over a seemingly small incident.
Devan, who gained fame in Malayalam cinema and also impressed Telugu audiences with films like Ee Maya Chesave, Maa Annayya, Aashayam, Pelli Chesukundam, Heart Attack, Dhamarukam, and Saaho, has often played villainous roles that left a strong impact on viewers. However, behind the scenes, he has faced deeply emotional moments in his personal life.
Speaking about his late wife, Devan revealed:
“In 2019, my wife passed away due to an allergy. It has been over six years since her passing. She was generally very healthy, but ice cream was something she could never have. Once, when we were in Chennai, we went out and casually had some ice cream. Shortly after, she experienced difficulty breathing. We rushed her to the hospital just in time, and the doctors warned her never to eat ice cream again. From that day, she avoided it completely.”
However, Devan recounted a tragic incident that occurred later:
“One day, my daughter Lakshmi brought her daughter to our home. I was away on a film shoot. Some ice cream was left at home for the children, and after my daughter left, my wife ate it, forgetting the doctor’s warning. Soon, she began struggling to breathe. The household staff called me frantically, saying she had collapsed. I rushed home and took her to the hospital, but unfortunately, I could not save her. The ice cream allergy had caused severe damage to her lungs, making it impossible for her to breathe. I lost my wife because of it.”
Devan’s emotional revelation has left many in shock, realizing that even something as seemingly harmless as ice cream can have fatal consequences for those with allergies. Medical experts emphasize the importance of strictly following their advice, warning that neglecting it can lead to tragic outcomes.
