Actor Srikanth Arrested in Cocaine Scandal

A day after Tamil-Telugu actor Srikanth was arrested, Chennai police sources revealed significant evidence allegedly connecting him to cocaine procurement and use.

Investigators stated that they have uncovered substantial digital proof, including financial transactions linking the actor to drug dealers.

“Chat histories, phone data, and money trails point to sustained contact with drug suppliers,” a senior officer told the media. Police also allege that Srikanth was in contact with individuals tied to a larger drug cartel operating in and around Tamil Nadu.

The actor was questioned for hours at Nungambakkam police station before being taken into custody. Blood tests conducted later confirmed drug use, though the official forensic report is still awaited.

Srikanth’s name first emerged during a probe into a drug bust that involved Pradeep and John, a Ghanaian national, who were caught with cocaine. Subsequent interrogations led to the arrest of Prasad, a former AIADMK member, after a pub brawl in Chennai — further unraveling the larger network under scrutiny. Several suspects named Srikanth as a key contact.

Debuting in 2002 with Roja Kootam, Srikanth has appeared in nearly 70 films, including Shankar’s Nanban, the Tamil remake of 3 Idiots. His legal team has yet to issue a formal statement, and a Chennai court has remanded him to judicial custody until July 7. Police noted that Tamil Nadu remains one of the states least affected by drug abuse in India.
