Vasishta Steps Aside from Bimbisara Sequel
Bimbisara remains one of the most impressive directorial debuts in recent Telugu cinema, helmed by the talented filmmaker Vasishta. His vision and execution of the first part won acclaim, establishing him as a director to watch.
However, it came as a surprise when it was announced that Vasishta would not direct the sequel, which is already in production. Considering he crafted the story and the world of Bimbisara, many expected him to naturally continue the franchise. Instead, Kalyan Ram, the film’s lead, brought in Anil Paduri to direct the sequel.
Addressing the buzz, Vasishta clarified, “It’s true that I am not directing the sequel. But this was a logical and collective decision. Anil cracked the story for the sequel in a way that even I couldn’t. So both Kalyan Garu and I mutually agreed that he was the right choice to take it forward.”
It’s intriguing that the creator of the Bimbisara universe has stepped aside for a fresh creative take. Still, Vasishta remains unperturbed and focused on his next ambitious project — Viswambhara, starring Chiranjeevi. With massive expectations riding on it, Vasishta will be keen on delivering a blockbuster to solidify his place in the Telugu film industry.
