Superstar Mahesh Babu is known for staying away from politics, choosing not to engage in public political discourse. However, his paternal uncle, Ghattamaneni Adi Seshagiri Rao, the younger brother of the late Superstar Krishna, has been quite active in offering political commentary.
In a recent interview, Seshagiri Rao opened up about the downfall of Jagan Mohan Reddy and offered a harsh critique of his tenure as Chief Minister. Notably, Rao mentioned that Jagan had purchased land in Tadepalli from him a few years ago, where Jagan later built his grand residence.
Rao, a senior political observer briefly associated with the YSR Congress Party, stated that Jagan failed to prove himself as a successful leader. “All Jagan and his ministers did was target Chandrababu Naidu and his family. Jagan indulged in destructive politics, solely focused on hurting Chandrababu and his family. But when it came to governance, Jagan couldn’t deliver a single major project that connected with the public,” Rao remarked.
He further criticized Jagan for not bringing any landmark government initiative that could define his political career. Specifically, Rao referred to the Three Capitals Proposal as a “colossal disaster,” which he believes damaged Jagan’s image.
On the flip side, Rao noted that while basic development like roads, drainage, and the Polavaram project remained incomplete under Jagan, his predecessor Chandrababu Naidu was a progressive leader who continued valuable welfare schemes. “Jagan failed to understand that development is as important as welfare,” Rao added, emphasizing the lack of long-term vision under Jagan’s leadership.
Despite not being an active political figure today, Seshagiri Rao’s observations resonate as he sheds light on the shortcomings of Jagan’s administration.
In an emotional moment, Seshagiri Rao was visibly moved when Chandrababu Naidu was sworn in as Chief Minister. His tears captured in photos have since gone viral on social media, leaving many to wonder about the personal struggles he has endured over the past five years.
