The overseas business for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s highly anticipated action entertainer Akhanda 2 is already generating significant buzz.
In a major development, the Overseas and North America distribution rights have been officially acquired by Moksha Movies and CineGalaxy, two leading distributors known for managing big-ticket Telugu releases in the US market. Industry sources reveal that the overseas rights are valued at ₹15 crore, marking one of the largest non-theatrical deals for a Balakrishna film.
The North America breakeven target has been set at around $2.5 million, a figure considered achievable given the cult status of Akhanda (2021). The original film not only became a massive hit among Balayya fans but also cemented director Boyapati Sreenu’s signature mass-action style worldwide.
Trade insiders suggest that the sequel carries immense hype, particularly in the US, where Balakrishna’s larger-than-life persona and Boyapati’s high-voltage action sequences enjoy a dedicated following. Distributors are optimistic that Akhanda 2 will surpass its predecessor, thanks to its grand scale, high production values, and pan-Indian release strategy.
With the film currently in post-production, promotional materials and release updates are expected to roll out soon. If Akhanda 2 opens strongly in overseas markets, it could easily cross its breakeven target and set new benchmarks for Balakrishna’s global box office appeal.
