The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, has officially inaugurated the grand Akhanda Godavari tourism project. The foundation stone was laid on Thursday with Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat present at the event.

Akhanda Godavari is a visionary tourism circuit designed to showcase the beauty and cultural richness along the Godavari River. It aims to connect key spiritual sites, natural attractions, and riverfronts across East and West Godavari districts, creating a world-class tourism destination.

With an estimated cost of ₹1000 crore funded by the central government, the project will focus on developing temples, lakes, and riverbanks, many of which are currently underdeveloped. It also prioritizes cleaning and preserving the Godavari, inspired by successful initiatives like the Ganga rejuvenation. Eco-friendly practices will be at the core, with plastic-free riverfronts, luxury hotels, boating options, and guided tours offering both spiritual and leisure experiences.

In essence, the Akhanda Godavari project will enhance tourism, generate local employment, and establish the Godavari region as a must-visit destination on the global travel map.
