Alarming rise in Covid cases in Telugu states!

After initial lull, the number of positive cases of Covid-19 has been going up alarmingly in the Telugu states for the last four days, sending the officials into a tizzy.

On Monday alone, Telangana reported three more positive cases of Sars-Cov-2 virus taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 30.

In Andhra Pradesh, too, the number of positive cases has gone up to six with one more case getting reported in Visakhapatnam on Sunday night.

According to an official bulletin, a 21-year old man with travel history of return from France tested positive on Monday. Similarly, another 30-year old man with travel history of return from London. Both are from Hyderabad and their condition is stable.

The third case is that of a 23-year old native of Karimnagar. Inquiries revealed that he had the group of 13 Indonesians who arrived in Karimnagar from Delhi on March 14 in Sampark Kranti Express. Of these 13 Indonesians, 10 persons tested positive and are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The local contact who has now contracted the virus had the guided Indonesian preachers. After shifting of foreigners to Gandhi hospital, he developed cold, cough and fever and admitted in isolation ward. He tested positive for the virus on Monday.

In Andhra Pradesh, too, the sixth positive case for Covid-19 is also a 49-year old woman from Visakhapatnam, wife of a a 65-year old patient who returned from Saudi Arabia on March 12. While the old man tested positive on March 17, the female who was admitted with symptoms on March 30, tested positive on Sunday night.

The last two cases got contracted the virus from those coming from abroad, indicating that the Coronavirus spread entered the second stage in the Telugu states.

Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments announced complete lockdown of their respective states till March 31, in the wake of growing number of cases.

Both the states had sealed inter-state borders and shutdown all public transport services.
