Amala Akkineni, the elegant and graceful wife of Akkineni Nagarjuna, continues to inspire fans even as she nears 60. Starting her film career in the late 1980s, she acted in over 50 films before stepping back from the limelight after marrying Nagarjuna in 1992, choosing to focus on her son Akhil and the family’s diverse business ventures, ranging from studios to agriculture, healthcare, and real estate.

Recently, Amala opened up about her childhood and family struggles, surprising many fans with her candid revelations. She shared that her father had to leave home abruptly at just 10 years old during the Partition, supporting ten siblings on a scholarship. Despite hardships, he met her mother at university, married for love, and devotedly cared for others.

Amala’s journey in classical dance began in Vizag when she was seven or eight. She started learning Bharatanatyam and was soon sent to Chennai’s Kalakshetra for intensive training. Living in a hostel, she practiced three hours daily for nine years. This rigorous training allowed her to perform across India and internationally, helping her become adaptable and fluent in five languages.
