Amaravati into the state’s capital. Since assuming office, he has made it a priority to steer the development of Amaravati, learning from past missteps and ensuring consistent progress. His strategic focus is now bearing fruit, as prestigious institutions and government bodies are keen to establish a presence in the region.
In a significant step forward, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) has been allocated 35 acres of land by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) for its campus. The land, located near the Seed Access Road and close to the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, will house the institution’s facilities, designed to reflect the temple’s architectural style. Although BITS initially sought larger plots in areas like Nellapadu and Ainavolu, they accepted the CRDA’s offer of 35 acres along Seed Access Road, recognizing its potential despite the smaller land size.
BITS is not alone in its interest in Amaravati. The Bar Council of India has committed to setting up a Law University in the capital, and several other esteemed educational institutions are planning to establish campuses in the city. Additionally, a number of central government offices and public sector organizations are preparing to set up their headquarters in Amaravati. Efforts are underway to renew previously delayed land allocations for central government projects, with plans to consolidate these offices into a single building instead of separate plots. This centralized approach is intended to streamline operations and contribute to the city’s efficient development.
Moreover, the state government is considering relocating offices to new Secretariat buildings and HWD towers, with key facilities like the Central Library, State Museum, and laboratories to receive dedicated plots. While progress had previously stalled, the renewed interest in Amaravati signals a promising future as the capital begins to attract a wide array of institutions from various sectors.
The past five years have seen a growing momentum toward Amaravati’s transformation. Once overlooked, the city is now becoming a hub for education, government, and corporate institutions, with a foundation being laid for its future as a thriving center of innovation and development.
