Why Amaravati JAC leaders want to meet KCR?

It is a foregone conclusion that the YSR Congress government led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to form three capitals with administrative capital at Visakhapatnam, legislative capital at Amaravati and judicial capital at Kurnool, come what may.

Yet, the farmers of Amaravati, who have been agitating under the banner of Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi, are running from pillar to post to protect their interests.

As their agitation has started losing steam with every passing day, they are running around various parties and leaders seeking support.

The other day, the Amaravati JAC leaders went to New Delhi and met various leaders including President Ramnath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and several Union ministers to present their argument. They could not meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah.

The JAC leaders are not leaving even Telangana leaders. On Sunday, some JAC leaders met Telangana Jana Samithi leader Prof M Kodandaram and sought his support.

Kodandaram, considered to be an intellectual, extended his solidarity with the agitating farmers and said their demand on retaining the capital at Amaravati was fully justified.

Now, the Amaravati JAC leaders are planning to meet even Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad and present their case.

Though KCR attended the foundation-laying ceremony for Amaravati and even declared that his government would donate Rs 100 crore for the capital, he later changed his mind and said building capital at Amaravati is a wasteful expenditure. He supported the three-capitals formula of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Yet, the Amaravati leaders said they would meet KCR and convince him. One wonders what additional benefit they would get even if KCR and Kodandaram support their cause, when Jagan has already taken the decision.
