Andhra Pradesh High Court asks government to think again on conducting Class 10, 12 exams!

Several states in India have postponed and canceled the class 10, class 12 exams, in the wake of Coronavirus creating havoc across the country. Even the CBSE followed the same decision.

However, the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is adamant about going for the Class 10 and Intermediate exams. The government said the exams will be conducted as per the schedule.

Amid this, several Public Interest Litigations (PILs) were filed challenging the decision to conduct the exams in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The High Court heard the petitions today.

The High Court heard the arguments of the two parties and asked the Andhra Pradesh government to think again about conducting the exams as the cases are soaring up at alarming levels. The next hearing of the issue was adjourned to the 3rd of May.

During the hearing, the Andhra Pradesh High Court asked, how can the students infected with novel Coronavirus appear for the exams? How will they be permitted to give their exams?.

To this, the Counsel who appeared for the government of Andhra Pradesh told the court that the government has been making elaborate arrangements so that the students, who have tested positive for Covid-19 can give their exams.

Stating that new cases are being reported in big numbers, the High Court asked, how can the Covid-19 infected students mentally prepare for the exams. Referring to the decisions taken by the other states, the High Court asked the government to take a call on postponement or cancellation of exams.
