“Anora” Shines at 97th Academy Awards with Five Wins

The 97th Academy Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, celebrated a diverse array of cinematic achievements. Anora emerged as the evening’s standout, securing five Oscars, including Best Picture. Sean Baker’s work on the film earned him Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing, matching Walt Disney’s 1954 record of winning four Oscars in a single night.

Mikey Madison’s portrayal in Anora garnered her the Best Actress award, further cementing the film’s dominance.

Adrien Brody received the Best Actor award for his role in The Brutalist, a film that also took home Best Original Score and Best Cinematography.

Kieran Culkin’s performance in A Real Pain earned him Best Supporting Actor, while Zoe Saldaña won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Emilia Pérez. The Latvian film Flow was honored as Best Animated Feature, and Brazil’s I’m Still Here secured Best International Feature. Paul Tazewell made history as the first Black man to win Best Costume Design for his work on Wicked.

The ceremony, hosted by Conan O’Brien, was a vibrant celebration of the film industry’s resilience and creativity. Attendees graced the red carpet in bold fashion statements, reflecting the evening’s spirited atmosphere. Musical performances by artists such as Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Doja Cat, Lisa, Queen Latifah, and Rey added to the night’s allure, making the 2025 Oscars a memorable event that honored both established and emerging talents in cinema.
