It looks like Telugu Desam Party headed by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is going through a tough phase, with one leader after the other deserting the party.
And even those who have been associated with the party for a quite long time, are expressing their unhappiness over the style of functioning of Naidu and his callousness towards loyalists.
On Friday, senior TDP leader and MLC Yalamanchili Babu Rajendra Prasad, who has been the spokesperson of the party for several years, is understood to have expressed unhappiness over the party leadership.
According to sources, Rajendra Prasad was upset with the silence of the TDP president for not coming to his rescue even when Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi hurled abuses at him and personally attacking him during a press conference on Thursday.
“Only on Friday evening, the party leaders have responded to Vamsi’s accusations. It clearly shows the indifferent attitude of the party towards loyalists like me,” Rajendra Prasad is understood to have told his friends.
He reportedly told his followers that he would fight a legal battle with Vamsi, if the party extended legal and financial assistance to him. Otherwise, there is no point in continuing in the party, he reportedly told them.
However, the TDP senior leaders immediately spoke to Rajendra Prasad and tried to pacify him. They asked him not to take any hasty decisions in this hour of crisis.
