Celebrations are in full scale in Antarvedi of East Godavari district as the famous Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy temple geared up for the grand wedding of Lord Narasimha Swamy with Goddess Lakshmi.
Annually, on the eve of Bhishma Ekadasi, Lord Narasimha Swamy will tie the knot with his consort Lakshmi Devi and hence he’s often referred as Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. Since this is the first Kalyanam in the new state of Andhra Pradesh, people have thronged to the temple and offering special pujas praying the God to shower his blessings on the new state.
Bhishma Ekadasi, also known as Jaya Ekadasi, is considered as very sacred. According to puranas, Bhishma EKadasi is very auspicious and holy day as the works initiated on this day would see fruitful results and hence it’s also called as “Jaya” Ekadasi.
Devotees offer prayers to Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Bhishma. . Politicians, entrepreneurs and locales in the surrounding districts attend the temple in large numbers.
It has been tradition for local MLA to submit the wedding dress to God and Goddess on the behalf of TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam). It’s an eye-candy to watch the marriage of Narasimha Swamy with Lakshmi Devi and many consider it as their virtue.
