‘Karthikeya 2’ actress Anupama Parameswaran recently took to social media to address the circulation of inappropriate and false content about her and her family. The actress revealed that certain online posts contained morphed photos and baseless allegations, which caused her immense distress.
Sharing a note on her official Instagram handle, Anupama wrote,
“A few days ago, I came across an Instagram profile circulating extremely inappropriate and false content about me, my family, and even tagging my friends and co-actors. The posts included morphed pictures and baseless allegations — it was deeply distressing to witness such targeted harassment online.”
Following an internal inquiry, it was discovered that the same individual had created multiple fake profiles with the intent to spread hate against the 18 Pages actress. Anupama immediately filed a complaint with the Kerala Cyber Crime Police, who successfully identified the culprit.
“To my surprise, it turned out to be a 20-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu. Considering her young age, I have decided not to reveal her identity, as I don’t wish to affect her future or peace of mind,” she shared.
However, Anupama issued a strong warning to those misusing social media to defame or harass others.
“Owning a smartphone or having access to social media doesn’t give anyone the right to spread hate or defame others. Every action online leaves a trace, and accountability will follow. Being a public figure doesn’t take away basic rights — cyberbullying is a punishable offence,” she concluded.
