Life rarely goes exactly as planned—it twists, surprises, and sometimes takes you to places you never imagined. That’s exactly how Anupama Parameswaran reflects on her journey. She laughs when recalling how she initially aimed to act in just one good film. Now, years later, she has built an impressive body of work with multiple releases lined up. Her story isn’t about flashy headlines but quiet, steady steps that gradually shaped her career.
This year alone, Anupama has impressed audiences with Dragon, Janaki vs. State of Kerala, Parada, and Kishkindhapuri—four films, four distinct stories, four different moods. Up next is Bison, releasing this Friday. For her, the film holds special significance because of the director, Mari Selvaraj. She had missed the chance to work with him in Pariyerum Perumal, a regret that stayed with her for years. “I wondered if I’d ever get another chance,” she admits. Fortunately, she did.
Anupama still carries the same excitement she felt at the start of her career. “When I did Premam, I didn’t know much about cinema. Everything felt new and magical. And ten years later, during the Bison photo shoot, I felt that same thrill again,” she shares. There’s a refreshing honesty in her words—no exaggeration, just a heartfelt memory of the spark that keeps her motivated.
As Bison approaches release, she seems grounded and serene. No overthinking, no rushing—just letting life unfold naturally. “Fate took me beyond imagination,” she says, and it’s clear she truly means it. Perhaps that’s the real magic: not just the films she chooses, but her ability to embrace life as it comes, without forcing the script.
