The boundaries between Indian film industries are gradually disappearing as actors, directors, and technicians increasingly work across languages. In particular, Bollywood stars are now taking on strong and diverse roles in South Indian cinema.
One such example is Anurag Kashyap, a celebrated Hindi filmmaker and actor, known for his bold opinions about Bollywood’s creative choices. While he has often criticized the kind of films being made in the Hindi industry, Kashyap has also been expanding his horizons as an actor in the South.
After appearing in several Tamil films, his performance in Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja earned him widespread appreciation from southern audiences. Now, he is all set to make his Telugu debut with “Dacoit,” starring Adivi Sesh. Kashyap will be seen as Inspector Swamy, a crucial character in the film.
Originally slated for a Christmas 2025 release, Dacoit has now been postponed to early 2026 after Adivi Sesh suffered an injury. The film, currently in pre-production, is expected to go on floors by the end of this year. Reports also suggest that Tamil actor Karthi is in talks for an important role in the project.
With multiple South Indian projects in the pipeline, Anurag Kashyap seems to be steadily making his mark in the Telugu industry. If his upcoming performances strike a chord with audiences, he could soon become a familiar and sought-after face in South Indian cinema.
